New York, NY – October 31, 2013 – St. Lucian Reggae artiste Taj Weekes is one step closer to a Grammy nomination. His album, Pariah in Transit, has made the preliminary list of albums on the Grammy nomination ballot. Weekes joins celebrated artists such as Ziggy Marley and Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion) on this prestigious list celebrating the best reggae albums of 2013.
Released in April through his independent label, Jatta Records, Weekes promoted the album with a successful promotional tour in France, Germany and Holland as well as parts of North America. The National Academy of Recordings, Arts and Sciences will name the five nominees for Best Reggae Album on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
In August of this year, Occupy This Album, featuring Taj Weekes‘ lyrically rebellious song, “Against the Machine” won Best Compilation Album from the Independent Music Awards. The album also includes songs from music icons such as Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson and Joan Baez.
The band will be headed to the studio at the beginning of next year to record their 5th album. For
