John Holt 1967-2014 |
Reggae’s pioneer John Holt died at aged 67. The Reggae music legend is believed to have passed away in London yesterday evening (October 19, 2014) at 2:40am English time according reports.
John Holt had been battling ill health for some time now and seems to have worsened since August when he collapsed on stage at the One Love Concert in Springfield on August 16. The singer, whose full name John Kenneth Holt, came to prominence as lead singer of the group The Paragons before leaving to focus on his solo career in the 1970s. His music will remembered at all times. For us, a few that immediately came to mind are I Want a Love I Can Feel, If I Were A Carpenter and the song Stick By Me, which was perhaps Holt’s biggest success in 1972, it went on to become the biggest selling Jamaican record for that year.
Condolence to the late John Holt’s family, friends, fans and well-wishers from New Image Promotions. ~R.I.P. John Holt 1967-2014~
