The Jamaican government at it’s recent National Honours and Awards ceremony, recognized the work and national contribution by three Jamaican Reggae music veterans, Mr Beresford Hammond, Delroy Wilson and Charlie Chaplin. The late Delroy Wilson received the Order of Distinction O.D. (Commander Class) while Deejay Charlie Chaplin is the proud recipient of the Order of Distinction O.D. (Officer Rank). Receiving the 4th highest honour of Jamaica the Order of Jamaica (OJ) is the 60 year old music veteran Mr. Beres Hammond for his exceptional and dedicated contribution to the Jamaican music industry. The Nationals Honours and Awards ceremony took place Monday October 21, 2013 at the King’s House lawn in Kingston.
Reggae Music Will Survive

Ziggy Marley/Snoop Dogg Among 50 Shortlisted for Grammy’s 2014 ‘Best Reggae Album’ Nominations
Although reported recently that he has once again changed his name, US Rap Icon ‘Snoop Dogg’ formerly ‘Snoop Lion’ and presently ‘Snoopzilla‘ reggae album, ‘Reincarnated’ is shortlisted for consideration in the November 11 Grammy nominations for ‘Best Reggae Album.’
Four time Grammy recipient David Nesta ‘Ziggy’ Marley is also shortlisted for said nominations. Ziggy’s “Reggae in my Head” album, released December 2012 along with Snoop Dogg’s “Reincarnated” April 2013 release which reflected a change in sound and faith for the former gangster rapper are said to be likely frontrunners to win the prestigious award.
