
Dance vibe Dancehall duo RDX will be dropping a Reggae album in Summer
30/4/14 Best known for bringing fun and happiness to the Jamaican music industry since their major break back in 2007 the duo RDX has announced their soon to be released Reggae album “Soul Poetry,” a step away from dancing and fun, citing in an article in the local Observer that they, “have a spiritual side too and we can’t explore and accomplish that on hardcore Dancehall beats.”
“Soul Poetry” Reggae album by the usually high energy RDX duo will be released during summer and will include tracks such as Family and Always both of which have already been out since 2013. RDX said it is refreshing to try something different after years of doing hardcore dancehall.
Nyanda and Ugandan Stars release video for their “Reach A Hand Uganda” CampaignFormer member of the popular Brick and Lace duo Nyanda, along with Ugandan stars GNL Zamba, Ray Signature, Irene Ntale, Maurice Hasa and Big Trill promotes safe sex on their single Your Ways as part of the Reach A Hand Uganda Campaign and has released a video for further drive home their message.
Nyanda is a proud Ambassador for Reach A Hand Uganda and It Takes Two Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to engage young men and women, to become advocates for increased access to family planning information and services in Uganda. It is important to note:
- Almost 75% of Uganda’s population is under the age of 30
- One in every 4 Ugandan girls is pregnant.
Chronixx Dread and Terrible project made it debut as well as hit #1 on BillboardThe ‘Dread and Terrible’ project by Chronixx not only made it’s debut on the Billboard Top 100 Reggae albums chart but also hit #1. The 10 track EP includes hit song Here Comes Trouble as well as, Rastaman Wheel Out, Spurlina and Alpha and Omega.
‘Dread and Terrible’ EP makes six, the number of albums by a Jamaican artiste to enter Billboard Reggae Chart since the start of this year with about three hitting the top spot.
Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt Honoured in NYC
International Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths who celebrates 50 years in the business this month and legendary reggae/gospel singer Judy Mowatt that forms two thirds of the world famous I-Threes group, that provided backing vocals for the undisputed King of Reggae Bob Marley in the 70s, were both honoured with the “Reggae Ambassador’s Award” for their supres artistry, outstanding achievement and contribution to the development and promotion of reggae worldwide by VP Records and Groovin Inc. in New York City.
