Stain Dem Family is not the usual group found in the Music/Entertainment Industry where artistes and musicians blend vocals, harmonies and melodies to create a sound. This group instead, blends their individual talent and skills to create a complete event production package. The members interpersonal skills ranges from management and show production, dancing, dj and music selection. The Stain Dem Family is quite known across the Jamaican parties landscape as they themselves have hosted a number of successful events.
Members, Suh Sick is the DJ and vibe master accredited for creating a frenzy among party attendees while Gabre the selector ‘rocks tha house’ with his ‘crazy talks’ people have come to know and love him for. Dwayne ‘Stain’ is the Dancer, he sets the trends and is known among his peer as a ‘very good dancer’ earning the thumbs up for skillfully and energetically articulate a dance move and Germaine manages the business.
The name STAIN was conceptualize by Dwayne Stephenson after which the members agreed that STAIN DEM FAMILY was most appropriate for a group name. Dwayne being the Dancer was not a decision he made from the get go but dancing became noticeably his forte and unique talent more so after he took the decision to entertain a crowd at one of the STAIN DEM FAMILY event because Dancers billed were no show. As it turned out, Dwayne’s gestre pleasantly surprised the crowd and from thereafter the family members decided to include his act as part of their production.
Fast Forward to a few years later and Stain is now ready to introduce is own choreographed dance move, which he calls ‘Stain Dem.’ The dance he explained, “was specifically created after realizing that the average person could not do many of the current dance moves introduced at parties” he also said that some of the moves have been stigmatized or simply too complicated which makes them inappropriate for certain events.
The ‘Stain Dem’ dance on the other hand is easy, the individual sways and rock the body to the left and right while swinging the arms in collaboration to the music. Confident about his career choice and looking to go much further, Stain has now hit the street with the move. “promotion is key, so I have to be out there to get people involved” he said. “It is also important that they know who created the dance as well/”
The Stain Dem dance has already gone viral among hardcore Dancehall fans, now the plan is to have the entire Jamaican Entertainment Industry favor the move. “It’s going to take much work and this might not the the one but could very well be the break I need to excel in this business” said a smiling Dwayne Stain.
