Prominent radio disc jock of the all Reggae radio station in Jamaica Irie FM, was found dead in his Bucksfield home in St Ann on Thursday night. He is, Michael “Mighty Mike” Jones, a 52-year-old broadcaster. It is reported that the veteran dj was noticeably absent from his 6-10 p.m. shift at IRIE FM when a member of staff and fellow disc jock, DJ Amber visited his home in search of him after several calls to his phone went unanswered. Upon entering his home after several attempts, he was found dead. The police who were called in to the scene does not suspect foul play.
Mighty Mike’s son, Hasani ‘DJ Sani Jones said the family is in shock. Jones said although his father, who it has been reported is diabetic, had been ailing he did not know it was serious enough to cause death. Several media and entertainment personalities have been paying their respects to the late veteran radio jocks via twiter and facebook. Mighty Mike joined Irie FM IN 1992, before that, his disc jockeying skills were honed while working at various entertainment venues.
