Nesbeth |
Roots-Reggae’s “Taste Victory” artiste Nesbeth extended a helping hand when called upon by the Spanish Town Adult Correctional facility recently to support their rehabilitation program.
According to a release, the move was not just about the obvious entertainment value but, the programme also aim to assist in the re-integration of convicted persons into society through mentoring with its main objective, to counter habitual offending or, criminal recidivism.
Following his performance interspersed with motivational speeches, Nesbeth said the experience was very moving and served as an eye-opener for those in society who share the view that the penal institution is a place of solace. Admittedly he affirmed he was fairly pleased to see that many of the inmates were still in high spirits despite their insurmountable challenges.
Nesbeth’s visit to the facility was so impactful, he was inspired to record a track that draws comparison between being locked away in a physical space and, being free but entrapped in a mental space. Although he is not prepared to say much about the song just yet, it’s message follows a personal trend, of taking you along a motivational and empowering path he’s opted to carry his fans.
Currently promoting the singles ‘Taste Victory‘, Ole Gangalee.’ and ‘Hundu Lay Lay‘ off his latest ‘Taste Victory’ EP, Nesbeth makes final preparation for his upcoming European tour later this month.
