Jamaican singer/songwriter and music presenter Asante Amen has hit #1 on the BBC 3 Counties Radio Top 10 Reggae Chart. The BBC 3 Counties Radio is the BBC Local Radio service for the English counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The song doing the magic is entitled I’m Sorry and has held the #1 position now for two consecutive weeks. According to Asante Amen, it “has been getting consistent airplay on the station for about a year!” before making a début entry at #9 in mid August, 2012. “I had promised DJ Warm and Easy who contacted me sometime ago that I would have done a dub for him and had not done it when he called on me again. Because I made a promise, I had to full fill it so I did the dub around June and sent it to him” said Asante.
Two weeks ago it was DJ Warm and Easy calling on the artiste again but this time it was not for dubs but to inform him that the song had soared to number one on the station’s Top 10 Reggae Chart.
This is huge exposure for Asante Amen who has worked tirelessly for years at his craft. As his catalogue builds steadily, Asante relishes the taught of his music’s positive impact on people, seemingly across the globe. His quest to deliver music of substance at all times has kept him focused through the tough times, “whenever I sit down to write a song, I give of my best” he said, “good music last forever.” In the past, Asante Amen has recorded other singles that have entered various music charts. Tracks like “Wipe Your Tears“ and more recently in Kenya another called Praises which also held a number one position.
