Today Monday February 6th, 2012, the world remembers the great Robert Nesta ‘Bob’ Marley a music legend of all times. This great Jamaican, born February 6th, 1945 has bridged gaps, broken down boundaries, challenged colonialism and racism through his music. Bob Marley’s music continue it’s positive influence on the lives of many as demonstrated as recent as October 30, 2010 when Victor Zamora, one of 33 Chilean miners rescued after being trapped in San Jose mine for 69 days, asked to hear ‘Buffalo Soldier’ by Marley, shortly after his release (info taken from his biography). As we observe Black History Month we pay tribute to Marley and all great leaders and individuals who fought for the freedom of black people worldwide.
