PLANTATION, FL, (May 23, 2012) – Patrick Dopson, gospel music’s hottest rising star, has been added to the fast-selling Gospel in the SON Outreach Music Fest, which will be on June 9th, 2012 at the Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium.
Dopson will make his first South Florida appearance at the Gospel in the SON Outreach (GITSO) launch press conference 6 – 9 p.m. May 30th at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Plantation, 1701 N. University Dr., Plantation, FL 33322.
Dodson, known as a Worship Leader, Singer, and Songwriter, released his critically acclaimed album ‘Open The Heavens’ on May 1, 2012, through his independent label, Oilonit Music.
“With the song ‘Keep Me’ climbing into Billboard’s top 30 and ‘Open The Heavens’ being selected by Maranatha! Music for the Top 25 Gospel Praise & Worship Songs 2012 Edition CD, it’s overwhelming to see how God is using the music,” Dopson said. “It’s an eight year vision that has been both trying and rewarding.”
Dopson, who is currently on a 30-city radio tour, will make two appearances in South Florida before the June 9th Music Fest. He is joining local gospel soloists Nigel Lewis and Second Chance; saxophonist Jowee Omicil; and Christian Contemporary Rock Band UnMasKd at the May 30th press conference and will appear at area Wal-Marts June 6, 2012 for in-store CD signing.
“With his new album released May 1st, there is no better place for Patrick Dopson to be introduced to South Florida than at Gospel in the SON Music Fest,” said Colin Forbes, Director of Ministry and Production, and President of Class Act Management Group Inc., the festival’s organizers. “It seems the heavens have really opened up for Patrick, GITSO and South Florida.”
Beginning his life in music ministry at age seven, Dopson played drums and sang in the church his father pastored in Selma, Ala. Since then, he has worked alongside some of the most-respected artists and pastors, including as a writer and singer on Fred Hammond’s first GRAMMY ® Award-winning project, “Free To Worship.” Dopson has shared the stage and opened for artists such as Israel Houghton, Martha Munizzi, Yolanda Adams, Ruben Studdard, Tamela Mann, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
“Patrick Dopson is one of this generation’s greatest voices,” said Munizzi. “He is a true worshiper with a fresh sound and is anointed with a unique ability to lead God’s people into His presence.”
Dopson has also been featured as a guest artist on albums by Grammy-nominated legend, John P. Kee, one of which charted in the top 3 on Billboard Gospel.
At the Gospel in the Son Music Fest on June 9th, Dopson joins a stellar lineup of artists including Double Platinum achiever Fred Hammond; Urban Gospel performers Pastor Marvin Sapp and Tye Tribbett; Caribbean Music Hall of Famer Carlene Davis; and Christian Contemporary group JARS of Clay, plus many other recognizable and spiritually charged artists across every genre of gospel music.
