CHRY Radio Inc. will strive beyond their Guinness Book of World Record attempt of last year where they established a mark of 24 straight hours of live DJ mix sets by 24 of Toronto’s foremost DJ’s. From noon Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 to 1PM Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 CHRY 105.5FM has invited 25 of Toronto’s most talented mix, radio and club DJ’s to deliver a continous 25 hour multi genre music mix in front of live audiences from remote locations throughout the York University – Student Centre.
The 24 + 1 hour media (and music) event will mark the 2nd Annual event of its kind and a unique broadcast experience never attempted on Toronto radio airwaves until CHRY 105.5 FM established it in 2011. It will also launch the campus/community radio stations 2012 fundraising drive celebrating 25 years on the FM dial’ which very fittingly connects to the successful attempt at 25 hours of talented mix DJ’s on the FM dial.
As one of the standing leaders in alternative source media across the city of Toronto – there is no other station on the dial suited to pull off such a historical media moment. A number of highly influential DJ’s and night life industry leaders were groomed at CHRY 105.5 FM from Baby Yu (Atlanta V103) and Mastermind (FLOW 93.5) to Stylus Award Co-Director/Founder Mike Zafaris and WTF (World Turntabilist) Champion DJ Grouch.
CHRY 105.5 FM’s legacy as a stakeholder for DJ culture is well founded through several signature on-air series such as May Is Month of the DJ and further substantiated through international recognition as the leading content provider of Afro-Caribbean programming among all C/C class stations across North America for over 23 years.
The 25-hour Mix DJ Relay Marathon will cover a wide array of genres and profile some of the city’s more influential DJ talents from radio, club and nightlife across Southern Ontario including: Legendary Soca DJ Dr. Jay – De Soca Prince (of G98.7 FM), National Redbull 3Style Champion DJ Mensa, 2010 and 2011 Canadian Central DJ of the year DJ Whitegold (91.5FM The Beat), 2012 Regional Redbull 3Style Champion DJ Makem and several more very notable DJ’s.
The event will be aired live-to-air on CHRY 105.5 FM and further broadcast via multiple media platforms including Rogers Digital CH. 945, Bell Fibe 973 and include additional video/audio streams including tunein.com and rdo.to/CHRY.
